H.B. Neild is looking for a highly motivated, experienced Safety Specialist to join the best construction team in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.

Job Summary

The Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting construction site safety initiatives, conducting safety inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a safe working environment on construction projects. This entry-level role requires a strong understanding of occupational health and safety standards, effective communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team to promote a culture of safety.

Safety Specialist 1 job duties include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on construction sites to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific safety programs and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and workers to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide on-site safety training and toolbox talks to educate employees on safe practices.
  • Assist in maintaining safety records, documentation, and reports as required.
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce PPE requirements.
  • Assist in emergency response planning and drills to ensure site readiness for potential incidents.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuously work to improve site safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential hazards.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for record-keeping and reporting.
  • Physical ability to navigate construction sites, including standing, walking, and climbing as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed for project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
  • Prior experience in construction safety or a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or other language is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily based on construction sites, with occasional office work as needed.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and potential site hazards.
