Purpose & Function Description

  • The Senior Accountant position is responsible for in-depth analysis and recording of accounting topics that require experience and knowledge to find solutions and ensure the integrity of financial records
  • Support North American (US and Canada) subsidiaries’ liquidity, solvency and financial market risks (in coordination with Group Treasury)
  • Support Treasury activities in North America including daily cash management, intra-group funding, corporate finance, cash collections and disbursements, along with cash flow forecasting.
  • Additionally, this role will be a vital collaborator in the derivation and presentation of key components of the balance sheet and income statement reviews.
  • Furthermore, this position will play a key role in providing reporting expertise across the NAM balance sheet, P&L and cash flow statements.
  • This position will ensure compliance with the Group Finance Manual and IFRS requirements and act as a trusted contact to both internal and external business partners on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager and Senior Manager in the preparation and review of bank and cash flow reconciliations as part of the monthly close process to ensure the Company’s financial records are accurate
  • Support the monitoring of adidas NAM cash balances, forecasting cash inflows/outflows and making recommendations as to the optimal use of cash while adhering to internal controls and compliance standards
  • Assist in the preparation of external audit requests as it relates to bank reconciliations and cash confirmations
  • Collect, analyze and interpret financial and cash flow data to identify trends, outline risks and make strategic recommendations
  • Collaborate with teams across departments to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Participate in work streams or medium-to-large-sized projects or key initiatives as part of the Treasury and Legal Reporting team.
  • Perform relevant reporting tasks and assignments deemed necessary by management
  • Collaborate with team leads to create and actively participate in a comprehensive job rotation program across NAM Corporate Finance
  • Develop process guides (desktop procedures) for defined areas to ensure standardized execution of tasks

  • Must possess above average oral and written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with both financial and operational business partners.

  • Proactive problem-solving skills; strong decision-making skills; innovative use of IT tools and new technologies; good time management and priority setting skills required.
  • Must have strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Extensive experience with SAP/COPA as well as the underlying transactions driving systematic recording of sales, cost of sales, expense and cash payments.

Requisite Education And Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

  • University degree in finance, accounting or business analytics
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in accounting and finance along with exposure to data analytics, reporting and data visualization tools
  • Prior experience with any variant of SQL preferred (along with data integration with the Power BI (as an example))
  • Experience with Treasury management topics and cash flow implications.
  • Advanced SAP, COUPA, Ariba and Excel skills strongly preferred.
