The Opportunity

This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA office in the Heart Failure division. Leading an active lifestyle is important to the many people we serve. In Abbott’s Cardiovascular business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart and vascular disease, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. In the Heart Failure business unit, we are focused on developing breakthrough medical technologies to treat and manage people with Heart Failure.

You will partner with the executive leadership team as we develop, refine and execute our strategy for short and long-term growth. You will help develop and drive inorganic growth strategies to help accelerate the company’s mission and vision. Develop and implement a business development strategy that aligns with the organization's overall vision. Lead, direct, and control all business development activities to meet the organization's short and long-term business objectives.

What You’ll Work On

  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate and manage the most complex or strategically important business opportunities, that will contribute to the organization’s short and long-term business goals.
  • Evaluate the findings of market research or analysis projects, assess the viability of alternative opportunities, and present recommendations to top executives or the Board.
  • Establish high-level, significant relationships with potential clients, partners, key decision-makers, and industry leaders to promote the organization’s products and services.
  • Lead the most important, complex, controversial or difficult meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners to pursue business opportunities and protect the organization’s business interests.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to expand market presence and drive growth within the Heart Failure franchise.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities, trends, and competitive landscape, ensuring the franchise remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and clinical development, to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Effectively influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive initiatives and achieve business goals, even without direct authority.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical abilities
  • Strong financial modeling skills
  • Significant experience managing B2B partnership and alliances
  • Ability to influence executive level stakeholders and present strategic recommendations
  • Travel: Willingness to travel 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • Cardiovascular Implantable Medical Devices Experience
  • Digital Connected Care Business Development

The base pay for this position is $146,700.00 – $293,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
