JOB SUMMARY – To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

This position manages a multi-level project management group. This role ensures consistent practices throughout all projects in the initiation and implementation processes. The Senior Director is an experienced cross-functional project leader and is accountable for the overall implementation activities and collaborating with all related functions within the business as well as with external stakeholders. The Senior Director will be a key member and facilitate the project prioritization process and will be involved with other key strategic business portfolio processes to insure that the development projects being funded meet strategic objectives. This position manages the project management office (PMO), and drives the PMO standards across the entire organization.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Expand the scope of this organization towards an 'Enterprise' PMO that will move from R&D programs only, to likely leading clinical programs, Operational programs, and M&A Integrations, as required by the business.
  • Lead the effort to instill the PMO core process within AngioDynamics so that it is an independently driven process throughout the organization.
  • Provides leadership in the prioritization of activities between projects/programs/ platforms/franchises.
  • Applies consistent project management practices across the organization.
  • Leads key team members in establishing strategic plans, timelines and budgets.
  • Participates in the evaluation process for future development endeavors.
  • Identifies and establishes key objectives.
  • Conducts project evaluations and recommends changes, continuation, or termination as appropriate.


Administration

  • Responsible for leading and facilitating Franchise Steering Committee meetings and implementing the phase gate review process.
  • Responsible for the appropriate program structure and standard performance metrics throughout all phases from initiation to scale-up.
  • Ensures appropriate linkages of this information to the project prioritization and/or product portfolio process.
  • Maintains direct involvement with all functions, such as; Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, Operations, Quality and external stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the management decision-making process.
  • Maximizes business results through continuous improvement in organization's ability to execute programs and projects from initiation to completion and production scale-up.


Human Resource Management

  • Coaches project leaders on project management skills, including leadership and stakeholder management, as well as project management practices and resource allocation.
  • Conducts regular performance reviews with project leaders.
  • Acts as promoter to create a project culture that facilitates accelerated project performance.
  • Identifies and helps to remove organizational obstacles and behaviors that hinder project success.
  • Develops consistent metrics for measuring project success and team performance.
  • Ensures knowledge is shared with resources and promotes team learning across projects.
  • Responsible for defining program strategies, developing goals, and orchestrating team appraisal process.
  • Provides guidance for team members in close collaboration with their direct supervisor.
  • Ensures that the development team achieves stated goals.
  • Selects, develops, and manages direct reports.
  • Develops future project management capabilities of indirect reports.


Project Management

  • Effectively manage and lead project teams in a collaborative environment, completing project deliverables per target timelines and requirements.
  • Maintain, and monitor project budgets, directing the efficient use of resources to effectively complete projects.
  • Lead project-related activities of project team members, providing guidance on conformance to established design control procedures.
  • Identify design problems and make recommendations on raw materials, components, packaging and finished product design and process, providing leadership in the project scope.
  • Successfully develop and obtain required approvals for design input and design output required documentation working with RA/DA/QA/Mkt.
  • Conduct and/or supervise all design and process validation activities required for assigned projects.
  • Constantly work to improve the internal systems for design control in order to improve the time-to-market cycle for new products.
  • Adhere to all regulatory agency standards, company quality standards and corporate policies.


May perform other duties as assigned

Education And Experience

Bachelor Level of Degree in the Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical field of study

15 years of demonstrated experience in a project management role working in a technical discipline; medical device and/or engineering with disposables preferred

10 of experience in a management/supervisory role

Skills/Knowledge

MBA, 10 years of Medical Device experience Preferred

Demonstrated ability of managing project teams, leading and developing others

Demonstrated proficiency in project management or organizational skills

Demonstrated experience leading a project in a cross-functional environment

Demonstrated flexibility and ability to function in a fast-paced, growth industry and work environment

Proficient in the following computer software applications: MS Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

This position requires some travel up to 25% of the time
