Position Summary:

The Supervisor of Quality Assurance provides leadership, establishes priorities, ensures accountability, and ensures processes are consistent and driven to completion across the Taco Cranston (TCR) facility. They ensure the timely support to TCR Operations, Engineering, Planning and Purchasing personnel. The Supervisor of Quality Assurance drives special projects to assist product quality engineers (PQEs) in attainment of their goals and objectives.

Measures of success:

  • Perform quality orientation training on a quarterly basis or as required by Human Resources
  • Reduce days aging for Material Review Board (MRB) Internal Corrective Action Requests (ICARs) to < 10 DaysReduce days aging for MRB Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to <15 Days
  • Perform four process internal audits annually
  • Identify at least one new statistical process control (SPC) point in manufacturing cell to track product quality.

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Assists manager with management review data gathering process
    • Coaches and mentors quality associates in quality methodologies
    • Develops and designs quality systems programs to meet organizational objectives and plan for continuous improvement.
    • Investigates and analyzes quality problems, recommends solutions and ensures corrective actions are taken.
    • Assist with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) external certification audits for TCR and Taco Fall River (TFR)
    • Proactively introduces Statistical Process Control tools to organization and works with operations to establish monitoring and reaction protocols to data trends
    • Chairs and coordinates all activities associated with regulatory audits
    • Reports results from supplier management programs
    • Administers plans for internal audits of quality systems, manufacturing processes, products and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) procedures and reports out on findings
    • Chairs the Non-Conformance Reporting system
    • Chairs the Return Goods System and assigns forensic analysis of returned goods
    • Performs other quality services duties as required or directed

    People Management

    • Evaluates team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions
    • Cascades relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner
    • Coaches and mentors for skill and knowledge development
    • Executes necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement
    • Ensures team adheres to company policies, practices and department standards
    • Assigns actions and ensure completion
    • Reviews work quality and provides feedback and guidance to team

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Associate degree in Industrial Technology or Engineering discipline; applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
    • 10+ years of experience working with quality methodologies
    • 5+ years of quality management or supervision of quality teams
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and statistical software tools such as Minitab or Sigmazone
    • Strong ability to facilitate quality complaint meetings and establish same expectations for staff to maintain standard as meeting leaders
    • Problem solving skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to interface effectively with cross functional groups
    • Strong ability to facilitate and/or lead continuous improvement activities

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology or engineering discipline
    • Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Manager through the American Society for Quality (ASQ)
    • Management leadership skills

    Work Environment

    This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.

    This position reports into the site every day.

    This position has approximately 5-6 direct report(s). Roles may include:

    • Quality Administrator
    • Quality Assurance Technician
    • Quality Auditor
