Job Summary
Quality Inspector - Aerospace Source Inspection:
In this role, the Quality Inspector will perform source inspections at supplier manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with customer, contractual, and quality system requirements for aerospace and electronic components.
This is a field-based position requiring independent travel to supplier locations throughout Minnesota and surrounding areas as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical inspection experience, professionalism in customer and supplier interactions, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple supplier assignments.
Roles and Responsibilities

Conduct source inspections at supplier facilities.

Verify compliance with customer requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, purchase order requirements and applicable industry standards.

Perform visual, dimensional and documentation inspections.

Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, and other inspection tools.

Verify calibration and certification status for inspection equipment.

Review manufacturing and quality documentation including certifications, travelers, inspection reports, material traceability, and test data.

Complete inspection reports and documentation accurately and within required timelines.

Communicate professionally with suppliers, customers, and internal KBR personnel regarding inspection status and quality concerns.

Maintain all required qualifications, certifications, training, and medical requirements, including annual vision examinations, certification renewals, and mandatory compliance training.

Support a culture of safety and operational excellence through participation in near-miss reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and other company directed activities.
Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum three (3) years of quality inspection experience in aerospace, manufacturing, electronics, or a related field.

U.S. Citizenship required due to customer requirements.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints and technical documentation.

Working knowledge of quality systems, inspection methodologies, and manufacturing processes.

Experience using standard inspection and measurement tools.

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage travel schedules effectively.

Must successfully complete and maintain customer and KBR qualification requirements, including vision exams, GD&T exam, and other technical evaluations as applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous source inspection or supplier audit experience.

IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and/or IPC-A-600 certification.

Familiarity with AS9100.

Experience supporting NASA, DoD, aerospace, or other high-reliability manufacturing customers.
Travel Requirements
-
Local and regional travel required based on supplier support needs.

Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain the ability to travel independently.

Mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with current federal reimbursement rates.
-
Lodging and Meals & Incidental Expenses (M&IE) per diem provided for qualifying travel in accordance with company travel policies.
Hourly pay range: $24.00–$30.60 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
