Tri Pointe Connect, the mortgage affiliate of Tri Pointe Homes, is looking for an experienced individual to join our talented group in Scottsdale, Arizona as a Disclosure Specialist.

Position Summary: The Underwriting Resolution Specialist will work with the Manager, Closing & Post-Closing Operations on files suspended by investors pending potential defect resolution. This can include reviewing files for potential alternative solutions, reviewing documentation supplied and disputing investor suspense items if necessary, or working with an alternative investor to ensure the loan gets sold. This position will also work with the Manager of Underwriting on all Underwriting defects and any additional related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the post-closing specialist, review investor underwriting suspense items against documentation in the file to determine if suspense is valid or if existing documentation can satisfy the condition
  • In some cases, identify additional documentation that, if obtained, can also satisfy investor suspense condition and working with customer service specialist, obtain applicable documentation from borrower or other third party as needed
  • May be required to re-underwrite documentation within the loan file including assets or income to determine if there are alternative methods for clearing investor suspense items such as potential loan restructuring
  • Review documentation to determine acceptability for applicable agency/investor requirements
  • Communicate verbally and electronically with internal parties including but not limited to loan processors, loan originators, loan closers, and management as well as external parties including investors, third party consulting firm facilitating post-closing, title companies, closing agents/attorneys, or the builder
  • Manage pipeline deadlines to ensure loan suspense items are reviewed, addressed, and cleared in a timely manner in accordance with investor and warehouse requirements
  • May be required to work with alternative investors on loan salability to include providing documentation required for clearing the loan to be purchased
  • Understand and adhere to all agency and regulatory guidelines
  • Attend weekly/monthly departmental and compliance meetings as required
  • Assist with identifying trending and issue tracking to help reduce overall investor suspense ratio/timeline to loan purchase

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5-7 years underwriting experience with conventional, additional government (VA, FHA) experience preferred
  • MS Office; including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Encompass LOS experience preferred
  • Must pass CAIVRS acceptability
  • Position is expected to work in office located in Scottsdale, AZ on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office/2 days remote)

  • Strong regulatory knowledge, including ECOA, HMDA, RESPA, and other applicable federal or state-specific guidelines
  • Strong time management skills including the ability to work under fast-paced, sometimes tight deadlines

Physical Requirements

  • May be sedentary for extended periods, up to 4 hours
  • Visual acuity for detailed computer work
  • Using fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision such as typing
  • Hybrid work environment
  • After hours/weekend, as needed
