Job Description:
Cydecor is seeking a UxS Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of unmanned systems and supporting hardware. This position works closely with software engineers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to build, configure, repair, and maintain autonomous platforms and associated electrical and mechanical components. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a laboratory or shop environment and possesses hands-on experience with drone systems, electronics, fabrication, and prototype development. The responsibilities below are derived directly from the qualification requirements for the labor category.
Responsibilities include:
- Assemble, configure, test, and maintain unmanned systems and supporting hardware components.
- Build, integrate, and troubleshoot drone platforms utilizing BetaFlight, ArduPilot, and PX4 flight control systems.
- Support electrical and mechanical assembly activities, including system integration and functional testing.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of unmanned systems using technical documentation and established procedures.
- Configure and integrate electronic components, sensors, propulsion systems, and associated hardware.
- Utilize electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Select and install electronic components and sensors appropriate for prototype and production systems.
- Support rapid prototyping activities utilizing CAD software and additive manufacturing technologies.
- Operate and maintain 3D printing equipment utilizing common materials such as PLA, PETG, ABS, and TPU.
- Perform soldering and de-soldering of electronic assemblies, including surface mount devices (SMDs) and sensor components.
- Support routine preventative maintenance, servicing, and repair of unmanned systems and associated equipment.
- Assist with firmware loading, software configuration, and low-level troubleshooting utilizing development environments and debugging tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation supporting assembly, maintenance, testing, and repair activities.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to support prototype development, system integration, and field-testing activities.
Here’s what you need:
- Active or Interim Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a technician background in an applicable engineering or scientific field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on professional experience with a degree, or seven (7) years of directly applicable professional experience without a degree.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of employment.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with BetaFlight, ArduPilot, and PX4 flight control platforms.
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience building and integrating unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with electronic propulsion systems and combustible power systems.
- Proficiency building, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical assemblies.
- Working knowledge of analog and digital circuits, AC/DC electronics, and the use of electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
- Experience selecting and integrating electronic components and sensors for unmanned systems and prototype development.
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory or shop environment utilizing industrial power tools and equipment, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools for assembly, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to support rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLS, and SLA, and selecting appropriate materials such as PLA, PETG, ABS, and TPU.
- Experience soldering and de-soldering electrical components, including surface mount devices (SMDs) and sensor assemblies.
- Experience performing routine maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and conducting repairs utilizing technical manuals and established procedures, including hardware assembly, troubleshooting common system faults, and performing primary and secondary servicing.
- Familiarity with C, C++, and Python.
- Experience using Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), compilers, and hardware debugging tools to compile firmware and troubleshoot low-level hardware and software issues.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
- Experience supporting DoD/DoW or autonomous systems programs.
- Experience supporting unmanned aerial, ground, or maritime systems.
- Experience supporting prototype development, hardware integration, or engineering test activities.
- Experience supporting system integration, field testing, or flight testing of unmanned systems.
Security Clearance:
- Active or Interim Secret; Active TS/SCI preferred.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a technician background in an applicable engineering or scientific field.
- Seven (7) years of directly applicable professional experience may be substituted for a degree, consistent with program requirements.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, on-site.
Compensation and Benefits:
The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000-95,000. There are numerous factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the role, work location, education/certifications, and a contract's Labor Categories.
