The Vice President of HFO Logistics serves as the senior executive leader responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational performance, financial management, and organizational success of HFO Logistics. This role provides leadership across all transportation, fleet, safety, administrative, and business functions while ensuring the organization operates efficiently, safely, and profitably. The Vice President partners closely with company leadership to execute strategic initiatives, drive growth, and maintain exceptional service standards for customers and stakeholders.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all company operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, customer expectations, and long-term business objectives.
- Coordinate with ownership and executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives, growth plans, and capital investment decisions.
- Represent the company in executive meetings, industry engagements, customer discussions, and business development activities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, safety, integrity, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Direct and oversee all transportation operations, including dispatch, load planning, driver management, customer service, and daily fleet activity.
- Oversee fleet utilization, equipment deployment, maintenance coordination, and asset performance to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Ensure operational readiness across all locations, drivers, and equipment to meet customer demand and service expectations.
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to increase productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
- Provide executive oversight of all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and transportation regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, driver fatigue management rules, and electronic logging requirements.
- Oversee Electronic Logging Device (ELD) systems to ensure accurate logging, real-time monitoring, and regulatory adherence.
- Monitor HOS/ELD data to identify compliance risks, inefficiencies, and operational improvement opportunities.
- Ensure processes are in place to proactively identify, investigate, and resolve HOS violations, ELD discrepancies, and audit findings.
- Lead audits of driver logs, qualification files, and compliance records to ensure DOT audit readiness at all times.
- Ensure continuous updates to company policies and procedures in response to regulatory changes.
- Oversee company safety programs with a strong focus on accident prevention, driver safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across drivers, dispatch, maintenance, and administrative teams.
- Investigate safety incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
- Develop and enforce policies that reduce risk exposure and improve overall fleet safety performance.
- Direct financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and capital expenditure planning.
- Monitor financial performance, margins, and cost drivers to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Implement corrective action plans to address underperformance and improve financial outcomes.
- Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) across operations, safety, finance, and customer service.
- Hold leadership teams accountable for performance expectations and results.
- Drive consistency in execution across departments and locations.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of operational and financial metrics.
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership teams across operations, safety, finance, and administration.
- Support succession planning and long-term organizational capability building.
- Collaborate with HR on workforce planning, talent development, retention, and performance management.
- Promote leadership accountability and professional growth at all levels of the organization.
- Support business development efforts, including customer acquisition, contract discussions, and service expansion initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers, vendors, carriers, and strategic partners.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through operational reliability and service excellence.
- Identify market opportunities for growth, expansion, and improved service offerings.
- Oversee implementation and optimization of transportation systems, including TMS, ELD platforms, telematics, and fleet management software.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to improve decision-making, efficiency, and compliance visibility.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, cost reduction, and scalability.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends for potential organizational benefit.
- Ensure clear communication and alignment across all departments, locations, and leadership levels.
- Provide regular executive updates to ownership regarding performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
- Drive collaboration across Operations, Finance, HR, Safety, and Administration to ensure execution of company objectives.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience within trucking, transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional teams and managing large-scale transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation industry regulations.
- Proven success managing budgets, financial performance, operational metrics, and organizational growth initiatives.
- Experience implementing operational improvements and driving measurable business results.
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Logistics, Transportation Management, or related field.
- Experience leading operations within a multi-entity or multi-location business structure.
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), fleet management software, and transportation analytics.
- Strong executive leadership and organizational management capabilities.
- Excellent strategic planning and business acumen.
- Advanced financial management, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
- Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of transportation operations, fleet management, maintenance, and safety programs.
- Ability to analyze complex operational and financial data and develop actionable solutions.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Primarily operates in a professional office environment with occasional visits to plant locations, drop yards, etc.
- Frequent interaction with drivers, operations personnel, customers, vendors, and executive leadership.
