Examples of Duties:
In this role, you will organize and manage the Animal Services volunteer program, including recruiting, providing hands-on training, and supervising volunteers in animal enrichment, safe handling, and shelter cleaning and sanitization practices. You'll plan and coordinate community events, foster placements, and rescue partnerships while representing the department at outreach activities. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, assisting with adoptions, supporting animal intake, and promoting animals through photography and networking. Strong volunteer coordination skills, a passion for animal welfare, and the ability to build positive relationships with the public, volunteers, and rescue groups are essential.
Typical Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience in animal welfare or related fields is required. Typically, this includes two years of college coursework or three years of relevant experience, preferably in a municipal setting.
Other Requirements:
Must be available to work an adjusted schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, to support shelter operations.
