Position Overview
As the Youth Recreation Coordinator VISTA, you will play a crucial role in developing health and wellness education components for the Student Stewards Program (SSP) at Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation. You will work closely with the SSP team to enhance current programs, build relationships with Washoe County schools, fine-tune curriculum, and conduct volunteer training workshops. Your responsibilities will also include creating standardized health and wellness education modules for SSP camps and expanding similar components across other TMPF programs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop health and wellness education components for the Student Stewards Program curriculum
- Collaborate with the SSP team to enhance existing programs
- Foster partnerships with school administrators and teachers
- Assist in creating school break camp curriculum with standardized health and wellness education components
- Train volunteers to effectively deliver the Student Stewards Program
- Contribute to the growth and maintenance of the Junior Naturalists program
- Bachelor's degree in education, science, or a health-related field
- Passion for TMPF's mission and vision
- Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with students, teachers, and volunteers
- Preferred: understanding of education standards and curriculum development
- Preferred: experience in teaching, summer camp programs, or Spanish language proficiency
As an AmeriCorps VISTA member with TMPF, you will receive:
- Living allowance of approximately $15,000
