Job Summary:

This position is accountable for coordinating complex corporate compliance activities for Mary Washington Healthcare

This individual will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, the community, and co-workers

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Represents regulatory and compliance on assigned project teams and helps establish regulatory strategies and plans that align with objectives outlined in the annual work plan.

  • Performs complex compliance risk assessments and audits.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains testing and monitoring of ongoing compliance efforts.

  • Monitors and coordinates internal and external regulatory audits/reviews and findings of audit deficiencies. Prepares and presents findings and recommendations to impacted MWHC departments and physician offices.

  • Integrates compliance initiatives across MWHC and leads project teams in the resolution of issues through the creation of corrective action plans.

  • Conducts complex research related to billing and compliance issues as they apply to Mary Washington Healthcare.

  • Provides regulatory guidance through the interpretation of regulations, policies, and guidelines.

  • Responds to compliance related questions.

  • Develops and delivers regulatory education and on-the-job training to impacted MWHC departments and physician offices.

  • Communicates relevant regulatory issues and findings to appropriate departments and physician offices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Legal or a Healthcare related field is required.

  • RN or Masters preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in corporate compliance required.

  • Understanding of medical record documentation and billing requirements.

  • Knowledge of Corporate Compliance programs as they apply to Health Systems.

  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to access clinical information through MWHC’s information systems.
