We are hiring for a Customer Operations Planner in Chicago, IL. The Customer Service Planner is responsible for supporting the dedicated customer operations team and managing the business within our Chicago facility, including the routing of loads to optimal coverage divisions or carrier partners, providing status updates to customers, and addressing customer and carrier opportunities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Monitor/manage the day-to-day shipping processes and ensure the metric requirements are being met. Analyzing, advising, and recommending solutions to management of personnel, work-flow issues, and trends.
Work in tandem with customer and carrier partners to ensure all loads pick up and deliver on time and any customer and carrier issues are quickly identified and resolved.
Review freight for internal or external carrier partner to provide best service to the customer while optimizing the cost and remaining apprised to carrier constraints and customer volumes.
Manage daily communication between multiple customers and internal functions, including but not limited, to daily communications regarding customer expedited requests, changes to initial warehousing or production plans, date changes due to product availability, carrier constraints, and other operational variables.
Optimize the life cycle of a customer order through execution of process improvement initiatives which result in cost savings for both the customer and the company.
Gather relevant data points, such as customer charges for partial/late shipments, and ensure the information is available for determination of additional charges pre-shipment.
Review customer on-time-in-full (OTIF) reports and assist with ensuring we are meeting contractual customer requirements.
Compare pre-shipment costs to post-shipment costs to ensure estimates are aligned to actuals. Research and resolve discrepancies.

- Two (2) years’ experience in customer focused role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree preferred
NAV or similar ERP system preferred; experience in analysis of performance/operational data preferred.
Strong customer focus with a clear understanding of the wider issues impacting delivery impediments.
Excellent communication skills.
Must have a high level of integrity and ethics; makes sound decisions in a dynamic and fast-paces business environment.
A can-do approach and attitude.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
