Job Purpose


The Material Manager is responsible for managing inventory and purchasing procedures. Material Manager directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, commercial components, and consumable goods in a cost effective, expeditious manner. In addition, this position is responsible for the Inventory Control, Sub-assembly scheduling, and Receiving personnel


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Directs buyers, inventory control, production reporting, sub assembly schedule and receiving functions

  • Directs production planning and scheduling based on the master assembly schedule

  • Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time delivery and relevant KPI’s (i.e. turns)

  • Maintains inventory accuracy through improved production reporting processes, cycle count programs and corrective actions

  • Determine inventory requirements for raw materials to purchase for plant requirements

  • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery

  • Collaborates with product line coordinators/engineers on the planning and forecasting of customer orders and/or new product launches
  • Work with supply chain, production team members and suppliers to implement lean principles including Kanban, consignment inventory, VMI, MRP accuracy, inventory accuracy (all classes) and logistic improvements while eliminating stock outs on product lines.

  • Acts as the purchasing, receiving and inventory control representative for operations system development, troubleshooting and implementation.

  • Supports the Supply Chain Manager in all activities within the supply chain

  • Performs other duties as required.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years' experience in purchasing, scheduling, materials control and/or logistics role

  • CPIM certification, APICS certification and/or professional training preferred

  • Proven knowledge with supply chain and inventory management systems

  • Thorough working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems

  • Proficient with inventory reporting systems (MES)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with excellent Excel skills, required

  • Knowledgeable of forecasting and budgeting

  • Demonstrates an extreme attention to detail

  • Excellent planning and project management skills

  • Ability to solve problems swiftly

  • Must possess a high-energy personality, leadership skills with solid oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
