Job Description:

As a Scientist, Systems Engineer, you'll be on the front end of designing and supporting cutting edge end-to-end weapons systems technology. In this team leadership position, you'll perform and review hardware/software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, test and validation of technical products and systems

About us: The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze Weapon Systems performance from the design and test results to ensure operational capabilities are met

  • Interact at a detailed technical level with advanced modeling and simulation activities

  • Requirements definition, flow-down and traceability for complex electronic systems

  • Plan cost, schedule and execution plan of complex development and test activities

  • Develop, track and present technical performance metrics

  • Perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects

  • Lead Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team

  • System design synthesis of complex electronic systems

  • Perform trade studies on a variety of system issues and components

  • Perform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground and captive flight test

  • Analyze data from design verification test efforts

  • Develop and run simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments

  • Present results during internal and external program meetings

  • Participate in proposal activities both cost and technical

  • Travel up to 10%; support field testing

  • Able to obtain and maintain additional clearances as required

  • Other duties as required


  • U.S. citizen

  • Active DoD clearance with current 6 year update; must be able to obtain additional clearances as required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in requirements development, design, implementation, integration and test of aerospace-related technical systems.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership role

  • Weapon Systems integration and test lead experience

  • Experience in advanced radar and/or infrared sensor integration onto a weapon

  • System level design experience in which the applicant has led or been significantly involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options

  • Demonstrated expertise in Systems Engineering disciplines and the government program acquisition lifecycle, to include requirements definition, creation of requirements verification test matrices, requirements decomposition, requirements traceability, design reviews and documentation, and integration and test

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Advanced degree

  • Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products

  • Experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) integrated with a sensor

  • Experience with proposal development including generating basis of estimates

  • Experience in development of use cases developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering and Simulation

  • Experience with Earned Value Management and Control Account Management
  • Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

  • Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
