R&P is looking for a experienced Accounts Payable Specialist who wants to join our team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. The R&P Technologies Accounts Payable (“AP”) Specialist maintains the regular accounting duties for accounts payable within R&P. The main responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist include acquiring and processing invoices, assisting in the reconciliation of accounts, and processing vendor payments. This role ensures timely and accurate payments, maintains strong vendor relationships, and upholds financial transparency while also adhering to company policies and procedures. R&P offers a highly competitive compensation package that includes contributions towards health insurance, 401(k) matching, and other non-salary benefits. Responsibilities

  • Verify, process, and record invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure accuracy within account coding transactions, project coding, department allocation, and posting dates.
  • Prepare and process payments, including checks, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
  • Compare purchase orders, prices, terms of payment, and other charges to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform monthly closing of Accounts Payable.
  • Completion of reconciliations and account analyses as assigned.
  • Reconciliation of corporate credit cards.
  • Verify adherence to R&P purchasing policies and procedures, including proper approvals and documentation,
  • Verify adherence to financial compliance regulations and assist in audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Tracking daily bank activity for cash availability and reconciling items.
  • Weekly review of outstanding payables and reporting aged payables over 30 days to the CFO.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures.
  • Oversee 1099 & W9 accounts payable items.
  • Maintain vendor master information in R&P’s ERP.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on various projects.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years’ experience in accounting doing AP with mid-size organization is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
  • Unanet experience is preferred but not required.
  • Openness to change and process improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Capability to multi-task, prioritize competing responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
