The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking an organized and detail-oriented administrative professional to join our team as a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Finance Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting a busy department committed to supporting the Village’s financial operations with integrity and efficiency.


Reporting to the Finance Director, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for a wide range of administrative and confidential duties, including financial record keeping, coordinating committee and commission minutes, coordinating general liability insurance claims, handling public inquiries, and preparing reports and official correspondence. The Administrative Assistant works both independently and as part of a team, contributing to the smooth operation of the Finance Department by streamlining office procedures, supporting Village-wide initiatives, and helping ensure compliance with policies and deadlines.


The ideal candidate will possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, demonstrate strong writing and interpersonal skills, and be comfortable managing sensitive information. The position requires excellent judgment, the ability to manage multiple projects independently, and a high level of professionalism in dealing with internal staff, outside agencies, and the public.


Successful candidates will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, one to three years of related administrative experience, and strong organizational and communication skills. Prior experience in finance, municipal government, or in a legal environment is preferred. Paralegal training is a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


The hourly rate for this part-time position begins at $35.58 an hour. The regular schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., for a total of 25 hours a week. As a part-time role, this position does not offer medical and dental insurance, but does offer paid time off (as provided to part-time employees) and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan. This position is open until filled.
