Under general supervision of the Park Operation Supervisor, plan and direct skilled maintenance work in the City’s parks and City’s properties. Supervise subordinate tradespersons.
Examples Of Work To Be Performed
- Plan and direct maintenance and repair work on a regularly scheduled basis without direct supervision.
- Assist crews in the planning and execution of their assignments providing technical assistance as required.
- Train new workers in acquisition of skills and knowledge necessary to the adequate performance of duties.
- Tamp, pack, and level dirt, asphalt, or other material.
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Trim trees, pick up and load brush onto a truck.
- Cut grass using a push, power or tractor mower, or power trimmer.
- Perform light maintenance, aquatic water testing, and construction duties.
- Occasionally operate an oil or dump truck or other light equipment.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills And Abilities
- Extensive knowledge or training of the methods, tools, and equipment of assigned trades area.
- Working knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment of other maintenance functions.
- Ability to supervise the work of others.
- Ability to analyze problems and plan solutions.
- Ability to maintain records on materials needed and used.
- Ability to operate mower, weed eater, edger, chainsaw, spreader, blower, trench shovels, pruning tool, plug pusher, cup changer, rake, and machinery tools.
- Ability to work in extreme cold, heat, temperature swings, outdoors, indoors; exposure to the sun, and mechanical hazards.
- Ability to read and converse in the English language and hear clearly.
- Carry, hold, lift, pull, and push 50 lbs.
- Clean, climb, crawl, kneel, sit, squat, stoop, twist, and walk in performing duties.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions (very hot or cold), bend, stoop, walk through brush or entangled areas.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas operator’s license.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.

- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another, or walk through brush or entangled areas.
- Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
