Description
The Database Administrator supports IT and strategic initiatives throughout the organization by designing, implementing, administrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining technology systems both on-prem and with cloud providers. This role involves system administration, data architecture, reporting design, and data controls, as well as interaction with auditors, examiners, and other regulatory agencies. The position also includes providing technical assistance to end users and IT staff and maintaining communication with all key stakeholders to determine their needs and the effectiveness of the systems.
Essential Functions And Basic Duties
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related degree, or equivalent work experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: System engineering experience taking projects from initial concept through planning and implementation
Proficiency with Network Operating systems and administration of Windows and Linux servers and workstations.
Understanding of computer security as well as securing operating systems and network devices.
Understanding data communication protocols, standards and related hardware.
Strong command of SQL and experience with financial database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL server)
Ability to work with a team, with minimal instruction or supervision.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues.
Working knowledge of clustering, backup and other enterprise applications to maintain availability and recoverability of systems.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5-8 years of professional experience in Information Technology or the banking/financial services industry, with a strong understanding of industry-specific systems, processes, and regulatory environments.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Self-motivated.
Basic programming skills
Solid communication abilities.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Good project management abilities.
Well organized, and able to meet deadlines.
Able to operate related computer applications and business equipment.
Strong technical skills in all related computer systems.

AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)
WORKING CONDITIONS Frequent local travel. Occasional domestic travel.

This role involves system administration, data architecture, reporting design, and data controls, as well as interaction with auditors, examiners, and other regulatory agencies. The position also includes providing technical assistance to end users and IT staff and maintaining communication with all key stakeholders to determine their needs and the effectiveness of the systems.
Essential Functions And Basic Duties
- Create and maintain applications and code to interact with core system data.
- Complete special projects in a timely manner throughout the year.
- Update and maintain core applications and their secondary systems.
- Administer, monitor, and optimize databases supporting financial applications, including trading platforms, accounting systems, and compliance tools.
- Ensure the integrity, performance, and availability of critical databases that support our financial operations, regulatory reporting, and risk management systems.
- Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies in line with financial industry standards.
- Ensure data security and compliance with financial regulations.
- Collaborate with finance and risk teams to support data analytics, reporting, and audit readiness.
- Design and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, and processes for extracting, transforming, and loading data between systems.
- Monitor database performance and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime and latency.
- Manage access controls and audit trails to ensure secure and traceable data usage.
- Participate in IT audits and provide documentation and evidence as required.
- Lead multiple projects and troubleshooting sessions, eliciting and refining business and system requirements to facilitate appropriate solutions.
- Implement 3rd party software integrations for strategic projects.
- Actively oversee support cases, maintain regular communication, and provide feedback on proposed solutions to issues.
- Identify operational deficiencies and improve compliance with procedures and regulations.
- Provide support for escalations or outages impacting critical business functions.
- Install, configure, and maintain server, hardware, and applications.
- Keep senior management informed by preparing reports on system performance and issues.
- Provides database application by developing architecture programming, troubleshooting, and security.
- Accomplish information systems and organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.
- Assist IT employees with other IT projects as needed.
- Secure database by developing policies, procedures, and controls.
- Review daily processes for automation, while maintaining accurate and dependable data.
