Full Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities

As a member of the Finance team, this position is responsible for gathering, reporting, and analyzing the Credit Union’s financial data, including daily cash, monthly and quarterly reporting, and data analytics. The Financial Analyst will collaborate with various departments to provide financial research and analysis. This role also involves automating reporting tools, report building, and ensuring data accuracy to support decision-making. This individual should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information.

Education

A bachelor’s degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

Experience

Three to five years of accounting or finance experience.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with minimal direction
  • Understanding of financial statement structure
  • Ability to analyze and interpret changes in financial reporting
  • Strong practical experience with Microsoft Excel formulas and functions
  • PowerBI knowledge is preferred

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly financial statements and reports, communicating variances and findings.
  • Partner with departments to provide financial analysis for business strategies, pricing decisions, and profitability assessments.
  • Use PowerBI and/or Excel to aggregate data sources and summarize results into actionable insights for leadership.
  • Ensure data accuracy through regular reconciliations and report/model validation.
  • Collaborate with departments to resolve discrepancies in data sources, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all financial reports and models.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficient and accurate data reporting.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, board members, and regulatory bodies:
    • Daily cash account preparation and distribution.
    • CECL (Current Expected Credit Loss) preparation.
    • Internal ALCO reports for Deposits and Loans.
    • Call Report preparation.
    • Pledging reports for borrowing.
    • Peer analytics
  • Prepare Reports for Wealth Management, including the P&L statement.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Assist in reporting for the Credit Union’s investment portfolio, ALM, and profitability.
  • Crosstrain with Accounts Payable for backup coverage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and regularly lift objects of up to 15 lbs.; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height and below the waist; and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, the ability to adjust focus; and the ability to utilize computers and focus on computer monitors for extended periods of time.
