The Head of Audio & Video will lead the vision, development, and execution of POLITICO’s audio and video strategy across all POLITICO’s geographies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the audio and digital video landscape across media, a deep belief in the value of multiplatform storytelling, as well as significant experience in podcast and video production. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the editorial leadership team to ensure that POLITICO’s audio and video experience aligns with the overall brand and journalistic standards. You will also work closely with commercial colleagues to ensure the audio/video strategy aligns with the overall goals of the business.

What You’ll Do
Leadership
- Refine and execute the company's audio and video strategy.
- Work with executive leadership to align with overall company objectives.
- Build, lead and manage a best-in-class team, setting clear goals and expectations for projects and timelines.
- Provide editorial guidance and foster a collaborative and creative environment, driving a commitment to excellence across teams.
- Oversee the creation and production of all POLITICO audio and video content.
- Work with teams from across the publication to identify and develop new podcast and audio concepts and establish a visual identity for podcast video.
- Track and analyze metrics.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, integrating new tools and techniques as appropriate.
- Develop and manage the audio and video department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Work with the communications, marketing and social teams to evolve and implement growth strategies across portfolio. Collaborate with the live events division to amplify POLITICO’s live journalism.
What You’ll Need:
- 7+ years of experience in audio and/or digital video production, with at least 4 years in a leadership role. Previous experience in journalism is required.
- A demonstrated interest in politics, policy and the political process.
- Strong understanding of the audio and digital video landscape.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and navigate challenges in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional creative vision and the ability to develop innovative audio solutions.
- Ability to think creatively and solve complex technical challenges under tight deadlines.
- Understanding of podcasting, social media and video trends.
