Job Description Summary

Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Focal Point between Logistics and Government Property
  • Manage Inventory of government and GE owned containers
  • Interface with DCMA and other government agencies
  • Work with Planners to maintain engine canning processing planning
  • Be the primary liasion with Engine Assembly and Test to forecast and prepare containers
  • Perform regular safety and process genbas of container storage areas to maintain inventory and safe storage procedures
  • Work with Facility Planner to maintain proper levels of repair supplies (bolts, washers etc.)
  • Representing Logistics in any and all container/government property related meetings
  • Manage warranty returns involving government property
  • Manage DD1149s of containers leaving the Lynn Site
  • Support logistic team initiatives in safety, quality and Lean
  • Develop new solutions under guidance and / or in a team setting
  • Collaborate with business leadership at site
  • Specify needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done
  • Work on cross functional teams at the site and across the Business

Basic Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Logistics)
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Manufacturing or Logistics

Desired Characteristics

  • Leadership experience in manufacturing or operations
  • Previous union experience
  • Experience with logistics, inventory management, cycle counts
  • Experience with PIT vehicles (forktrucks, electric pallet jacks etc.)
  • Technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma Fundamentals
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
