Job Summary

The Material Planner is responsible for managing inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods while ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials to meet production schedules. This highly collaborative role requires partnering with purchasing, production, shipping, and receiving departments to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).

This position will report to the Director of Manufacturing Operations. The role is full time, exempt and located at our Dallas, TX Facility.

Job Description

  • Review the production schedule and active purchase orders (POs) daily to prioritize material requirements and meet production and sales demands.
  • Analyze demand to generate material planning reports and drive purchasing activities and internal material movements.
  • Work with purchasing to schedule, expedite, defer, or cancel orders based on material planning needs.
  • Track material shortages daily for each project and coordinate with buyers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to resolve shortages, escalating urgent issues immediately.
  • Collaborate with buyers to release regular forecasts to suppliers to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Analyze excess, obsolete, or aging inventory and take appropriate action to optimize inventory performance in collaboration with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement.
  • Drive continuous improvement in internal material planning processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Track, manage, and conduct cycle counts of raw materials, work-in-

process, and finished goods to ensure inventory remains within planned levels, reporting pertinent planning information to management.

  • Conduct financial risk assessments related to inventory when requested. Perform root cause analyses of material discrepancies and take corrective action as needed.
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping practices.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years material planning or supply chain related experience with college a degree
  • Must have minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork mindset
  • Logical thinking and result-driven
  • Computer literate and proficient with Cloud based Platforms, Google Workspace applications, and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in a manufacturing planning capacity with working knowledge of Material Resource Planning systems, Bill of Materials (BOM), and Process and Routings.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with experience working cross- functionally.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
