The Clinician has primary responsibility for the delivery of direct patient care in compliance with the medical standards and guidelines and adherence to the operational standards for productivity and exceptional customer service. The Clinician will work within the context of all PPNCSNJ medical policies and protocols, and recognize ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing patient care. Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives and Physician Assistants operate within the licensed scope of practice as authorized by PPNCSNJ’s “Collaborative Practice Agreement for Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistants.”

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Education/Licensure/Certification: Must be a State of New Jersey licensed Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant trained in reproductive health care. Advanced Practice Nurses must be certified by a national certifying agency that is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties and/or the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, or American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), American College of Nurse Midwives Certification Council (ACC) and/or their successors. Physician Assistants must be certified by the National Commission for certifying of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Advanced Practice Nurses (Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives and Physician Assistants) are required to annually sign PPNCSNJ’s “Collaborative Practice Agreement for Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants” (see attached agreement).
- Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of clinician work experience in reproductive health required.
- Other Requirements: Ability to read, write and read in English, Bilingual in Spanish is desirable. Valid NJ State driver’s license. Reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area as needed.

- Demonstrates critical thinking and diagnostic skills in clinical decision-making.
- Reviews the health history and psychosocial database.
- Assesses for evidence of domestic violence or sexual abuse.
- Performs an appropriate assessment.
- Recommends diagnostic and therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, efficacy, and cost effectiveness.
- Recognizes emergencies and initiates emergency care.
- Orders, performs, and interprets screening and diagnostic procedures and tests.
- Develops and analyzes differential diagnoses based on clinical and laboratory data.
- Incorporates non-pharmacologic therapies into practice.
- Prescribes approved medications and/or devices as regulated by state clinician practice acts including all birth control medications and devices.
- Evaluates results of interventions using accepted outcome criteria, revises the plan of care accordingly and consults or refers when needed.
- Provides information about health promotion and disease prevention that takes into account the individual’s age, developmental status, disability, culture, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
- Provides clinical management, including therapeutic procedures and/or referral for women with selected gynecologic problems. May participate in patient follow-up.
- Manages the treatment of sexually transmitted infections for patients and their partners.
- Provides care to men with reproductive health needs or problems as authorized or credentialed by the Medical Director.
- Provides comprehensive family planning care.
- Provides management or referral for non-reproductive health problems.
- Collaborates with other health care providers to achieve optimally achievable outcomes.
- Assists in the performance of quality and risk management improvement activities.
- Participates in research to promote evidence-based practice and to facilitate effective care, if applicable.
- Records patient data accurately.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth and maintains documentation of continuing education activities as required for licensure.
- Performs other duties as requested based on training and education.
- Follows protocols according to PPNCSNJ Medical Standards and Guidelines, PPNCSNJ Laboratory Manual and PPNCSNJ Infection Control Manual.
- Participates in the Affiliate’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include but are not limited to: Coding properly; achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.
