Role Summary

Nuuly is looking for a Temporary Assistant Buyer who will support the buying team in managing the overall merchandise flow, lean in on any operational needs as well as support the Buyer in creating a timely and exciting product assortment that meets all planned goals and targets. You will also learn to develop key cross functional relationships with both the market and internal partners: distribution center, buying operations, planning, website merchandising, brand creative and photo studio team. Lastly, you will aid the Buyer in the professional development of the Merchandise Assistant (MA).

Role Responsibilities

Style Set-Up/Purchase Order Set-Up and Inventory Management

Oversee the issuance of purchase orders in Island Pacific

Oversee execution of all purchase order changes

Oversee and ensure timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication, tracking and follow-up with the vendors, production, DC and buying team

Alert cross-functional partners to any costing or timing ramifications coming from purchase order changes

Reconcile receipts against plan

Enter styles into TXT (pre-season planning tool) as required/directed by buyers

Website Maintenance

Oversee style tracker (STEP) for brand creative/web producer team

Review weekly RNA (Received not Activated) report for relevant classes and follow up with MA and cross functional partners to determine necessary action to activate choices

Market & Product

  • Identify trends and aid Associate Buyer to ensure Nuuly assortment reflects current business & market trends
  • Help Associate Buyer build a cohesive assortment that considers current business and market trends that also hits all planned targets (e.g. costing, timing, attributes)

After launch -Style Productivity Reporting

  • Help to prepare reporting for weekly business review and quarterly hindsight meetings
  • Work toward owning certain reporting out for weekly business review, monthly open-to-buy and seasonal hindsight meetings by supporting buyer
  • Enter rebuys into seasonal planning requests and execute on purchase orders

Vendor Communication

  • Act as liaison between the vendor and the buyer; responsible for all vendor follow-up such as facilitating discounts for late deliveries and cancellations of orders
  • Answer various inquiries, especially shipping related
  • Exhibits strong vendor communication skills and enforces vendor compliance rules; partners with buyer, vendor compliance and necessary other stakeholders to make exceptions when necessary

Role Qualifications

At least 1 year experience within a retail buying role

Must exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills

Detail Oriented

Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment

An understanding of the customer's wants and needs and the ability to identify the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectations.

Ability to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks; exhibits a high sense of urgency

Must demonstrate creative thinking; is proactive
