Job Location: Monday-Friday -Hybrid - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the office, Altamonte Springs, FL
The Patient Experience Clinical Consultant is responsible for improvement consulting for executives and leaders, curriculum development and delivery, and managing patient experience projects across the system. This role manages complex consulting engagements, ensuring that appropriate mentoring and follow-up is delivered. In addition, this role manages patient experience related projects and teaches others at all levels. This role requires solid experience in adult learning concepts, along with advanced project management, organization and communication skills. Additionally, this position plans or assists in planning core content for major system events including Summits and strategic forums. As a leader in implementing improvements in patient experience, this role requires a strong working knowledge of effective reporting and interpretation of survey results, along with an understanding of statistical concepts. This position serves as a change agent for Adventist Health System and requires a high level of consulting expertise and confidence, with superior change management skills.

The Value You’ll Bring To The Team
- Patient Experience Consulting * Consults with senior leadership at our campuses, and mentors leaders and staff at all levels in best practices for patient and family experience. * Leads the system wide planning, development and execution of high profile, more complex initiatives, requiring heavy interaction and influence with physician and nursing leaders. * Collaborates with executives and leaders in the field to create and oversee unit/department level action plans to drive improvement at assigned campuses. * Organizes consulting priorities and is a self-starter with regard to pro-actively helping our campuses. Establishes and maintains regular contact with all assigned campuses. * Assesses the strengths/opportunities of hospital-based Patient Experience Leaders in the field and consults with and mentors the skillset of these leaders. * Assesses and trains Press Ganey Advisors who are new to our organization, ensuring successful deployment to the field. Regularly evaluates performance of Press Ganey Advisors at our sites via observation and feedback from executives. * Working with the System Director, develops consulting methods and standard feedback mechanisms for use with campuses, requiring innovation and creative approach. * Actively leads and/or participates in strategic planning for patient experience system-wide. * Effectively consults across multiple campuses and service lines, with the ability to customize approach to meet the needs of each organization.
- Patient Experience Education * Develops strategic recommendations for curriculum necessary to support patient experience improvement initiatives in the field across the continuum of care, including innovative approaches for delivery. * Takes a lead role in the planning of the annual Patient Experience Summit and leadership meetings. * Conducts training classes and meetings as needed in support of key initiatives. * Working with department leaders, contributes to the educational content planning of all patient experience strategy online forums and leadership workshops throughout the year. * Engages in the development and deployment of consistent education for patient experience using innovative and effective training approaches, demonstrating sound knowledge of adult learning methods. * Serves as a lead educator for CREATION Health principles in patient experience and care, across the system.
- Patient Experience Project Management * Consults with executives and other leaders to identify strategic projects to impact patient and family experience across the continuum of care. * Partners and collaborates with resources from other areas to achieve successful project completion, including marketing/brand, communications, IS and clinical. * Leads and organizes projects to develop patient and family facing tools that promote engagement in their care and a better patient experience in both acute and ambulatory settings. * Trains, engages and leverages patient experience leaders in the field on deployment of project deliverables. * Uses change management expertise to work with executives, leaders and employees on project implementation and change culture.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's in nursing Required
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Required
- 10 healthcare related experience Required
- 5 experience as a Nurse Manager or above in an acute care setting Required
- 3 experience in a patient experience consulting role in a multi-campus setting Required
- Demonstrated history of leading strong improvement results in patient experience Required
- Demonstrates strong communication, organization and follow-through skills, managing patient experience improvement initiatives, projects and programs.
- Skilled demonstrated experience as a nurse leader driving patient experience improvement
- Knowledge of clinical and nonclinical acute hospital operations and continuum of care (connected care) pre/post-acute services
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a proven track record of effectively presenting information to all levels of the organization, including senior executives
- Flexibility and adaptability to change
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interface effectively with physicians, nursing, non-clinical and executive leadership
- Strong attention to detail and ability to problem-solve effectively.
- Strong consultant skillset, with the ability to influence all levels in the organization
- Exhibits excellent complex analytical, and change management skills
- Solid ability to analyze and evaluate business problems by defining the challenges, identifying alternatives, and making timely decisions
- Strong knowledge of Patient Experience best practices, and how to best integrate with clinical care
- Solid knowledge of CMS CAHPS requirements, statistical concepts, and the survey process
- Expertise in effective methods of education and adult learning practices
- Ability to lead, organize and work on multiple initiatives/projects without compromising work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Lean or Six Sigma application knowledge
- Master's in healthcare or business related field Preferred
- Lean or Six Sigma Upon Hire Preferred
- Certified Patient Experience Professional Upon Hire Preferred
