Job Description:

Isles of Boynton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated RN Infection Preventionist / Staff Development to join our team. In this key role, you will oversee the orientation and training of nursing staff, as well as manage infection prevention and control protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the implementation of the nursing staff orientation plan for employees and contractors.
• Serve as a preceptor, coach, and resource for nursing department employees during their orientation period.
• Manage documentation of orientation and skill validation for nursing staff.
• Coordinate and assist with annual skills training and validation.
• Teach and manage CNA classes and ensure training meets regulatory requirements.
• Maintain records of all in-service training, including content and attendance.
• Support the nursing team in completing mandatory in-service trainings.
• Collaborate with leadership to plan and conduct training related to federal, state, and local requirements.
• Coordinate competency validation related to new equipment or procedures.
• Serve as a liaison to approved student affiliations and manage student orientations and clinical process compliance.
• Obtain and maintain CPR certification and provide on-site CPR training.
• Participate in QAPI program and Circle of Care classes.
• Report infection control trends using an electronic surveillance system.
• Analyze infection data and provide recommendations to the Infection Control Committee, QAPI Committee, and Antibiotic Stewardship Committee.
• Conduct infection control rounds and assist with monitoring and identifying infection issues.
• Coordinate and monitor outbreak investigations in collaboration with the director of nursing and medical director.
• Assist with COVID infection tracking and reporting, as well as vaccine tracking.
• Lead the annual influenza prevention campaign for patients and employees.
• Provide regular infection reports for the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee.
• Co-chair the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee and collaborate on antimicrobial stewardship programs.
• Partner with the medical director, director of nursing, and consultant pharmacist to maintain an antimicrobial stewardship program.
• Work with human resources to implement the exposure control plan and ensure proper tracking of vaccinations and work restrictions based on CDC guidelines.
• Conduct annual TB Risk Assessment and implement necessary improvements in infection prevention practices.
• Educate staff on infection prevention techniques, including hand hygiene, bloodborne pathogens, PPE, and sharps handling.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Licensed RN in the State of Florida.
• Education, training, or certification in infection control and prevention.
