SUMMARY:The Senior Payroll Analyst reports to the Payroll Manager. Under general supervision this position is responsible for all payroll tax activities including compliance with local state and federal regulations. Directly working with the finance and human resources departments as well as a third-party vendor to ensure accurately and timely remittance of all taxes.
Required Qualifications
Associates Degree in Accounting or related field required or in lieu of degree three years related experience in finance or accounting. American Payroll Association certification (FPC or CPP) required or completion of certification within one (1) year of hire. Maintenance of certification is required.
Knowledge of payroll processes including pay calculations tax geographical location (state territory etc.) taxation rules etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Analytical and math skills to validate and perform certain payroll calculations. ADP Enterprise system knowledge preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and experience with third-party tax research tools.
Minimum of three (3) years payroll tax experience including federal and multi state.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Sets up and maintains government unemployment and locality tax as required in the payroll system.
Researches and reviews tax compliance and provides recommendations to manager.
Reviews weekly tax audit reports and processes tax amendments
Participate in testing and validating monthly and quarterly ADP tax patch and calculations updates to ensure system integrity.
Maintains multi-state and Nexus taxation compliance including maintaining and auditing employee physical work locations.
Determines taxation for foreign national employees using Tax Navigator software.
Performs a weekly tax/wage reconciliation to ensure taxes withheld are correct.
Performs quarterly and yearend tax reconciliations to validate accuracy between our payroll system and third-party vendor.
Reconciles W2�s and ensures that W2�s issued are accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
Researches and reconciles federal/state tax notices reports findings to Payroll manager and finance for resolution.
Developing and delivering training and communications to all levels of the organization.
Requires critical thinking and analytical skills.
Ability to solve problems involving complex options in variable situations.
Ability to effectively present information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a typical office environment requiring extended periods of sitting walking and/or standing
