Job Summary
The Undergraduate Medical Coordinator oversees and coordinates a variety of departmental academic and student programs, which may include visiting residents, medical students, and faculty members, under the direction of the UME Office. This position manages policies and procedures for visiting students and observers for undergraduate medical education. The UME Coordinator assists with producing rotation schedule, implementing changes, and orienting students to their respective rotations. This position is responsible for executing program letter of agreement (PLA) between the program and each participating site. This position will also aid in the recruitment and marketing of UME opportunities for the Health System. The UME Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Education Operations in the Office of Academic Affairs.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalency of four years of administrative and/or academic experience in a supervisory role Required
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) And Certification(s)
Required Minimum Experience:
2-3 years of experience working in healthcare, academia, or similar field Required
Required Minimum Skills
Ability to work independently and pay close attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written and verbal, problem solving, diplomatically manages problems of a sensitive and/or confidential nature Superior organizational skills Commitment to provide excellent customer service Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Knowledge of the following applications/websites: ERAS, NRMP, VSAS, and ACEMAPP. Understanding of the program requirements and the accreditation process for Undergraduate Medical Education and Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Administration a. Oversees day-to-day operations of the program b. Updates program policies as needed and as UME office policies change c. Assists UME students with program policies and procedures, orientation, and evaluations. d. Produces rotation schedules in accordance with LCME standards while maintaining files on current and alumni visiting medical students. e. Coordinates and proctors annual specialty in-service and student examinations 3. Recruitment a. On-boards medical students to the institutional policies, guidelines, and activities of their respective rotations including orientation. b. Monitors medical student morale and responds to concerns c. Assists in due process for medical student issues including but not limited to probation and termination. d. Maintains partnerships for academic affiliates, participates in recruitment activities, and acts as a liaison with community partners for UME purposes. 2. Accreditation/Credentialing a. Knowledgeable and advises the Office of Academic Affairs of LCME requirement interpretation, standards, and regulations. b. Coordinates medical student evaluations with appropriate faculty/attendings. c. Maintains accurate and easily retrievable records of medical student training Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
