VDC Modeler
Full-Time Position: 40 Hrs
Salary: $35 to $42 Hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm (Hours will vary as needed)
Reports to VDC Manager
Job Summary: The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Modeler is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining accurate 3D models and digital construction documentation for project coordination, visualization, and execution. This role works closely with project managers, field teams, and clients to ensure that project models align with design intent and support construction activities, including clash detection, quantity take-offs, and construction sequencing.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with Trimble Business Center, Leica Cyclone, or similar scanning and survey software.
- Knowledge of 4D/5D modeling and scheduling integration tools (e.g., Synchro).
- Familiarity with cloud-based model collaboration platforms like Autodesk BIM 360 or Trimble Connect.
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D models for use in construction coordination, clash detection, and visualization.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Crews to ensure models accurately reflect construction needs and field conditions.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals to create precise models.
- Perform clash detection and assist in resolving conflicts through coordination meetings.
- Generate shop drawings, lift drawings, and installation sequences from models.
- Assist in developing 4D (schedule-based) and 5D (cost-based) models when applicable.
- Integrate survey data and as-built conditions into models as needed.
- Prepare models for use in field layout, including exporting to robotic total stations or GPS devices.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate VDC deliverables and coordination issues.
- Manage model updates and version control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the implementation of VDC standards, best practices, and process improvements.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in BIM/VDC modeling for construction projects.
- Proficiency in software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Carlson.
- Familiarity with 3D laser scanning, point clouds, and photogrammetry is a plus.
- Experience working with survey data and construction layout is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, plans, and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
